Rev. Dr. Kori Phillips McMurtry

Pastor

Rev. Dr. Kori Philips McMurtry

Pastor Kori is CCPC's head pastor. On Sundays, she leads with enthusiasm, creativity, scholarship, and a genuine love for God and the work we are called into as a community of faith. She feels that one of the best things about serving alongside CCPC is bearing witness to the way this church cares for each other, while also remaining warm and hospitable to new friends and visitors. She and her husband, Ben, are parents to a four year old, who will sometimes make an appearance in the pulpit! Her prayer is for all of God's beloved children to know just how loved they are. She looks forward to greeting you at CCPC!

Kevin Allen
Director of Music Ministry
(Newly-Hired)

Meet Kevin our new Music Director

Hello! I’m Kevin Allen, and I’m excited to join Christian Community Presbyterian Church as your new Director of Music. I bring over two decades of experience as a church musician, choral conductor, pianist, and music educator, and I’m passionate about nurturing vibrant, joyful worship.

Most recently, I served as Director of Music at John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Annandale, VA, where I had the privilege of leading musicians presenting diverse programming, including Advent/Christmas cantatas, Jazz in the Sanctuary, and Hymn Festivals. In addition to my church work, I teach high school vocal music and piano in Prince George's County Public Schools and maintain an active piano studio, guiding students toward advanced musical opportunities and helping them develop their own love of music. I also sing with the Heritage Signature Chorale.

I hold a Master of Music in Music Education from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Music in Performance from Norfolk State University, a Certificate in Church Music from Virginia Wesleyan College (University), and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. My training spans conducting, piano, voice, church music, and music pedagogy.

Across all of my roles, I strive to be creative and consistent, bringing both skill and heart to my work. I’m excited to work alongside CCPC's music ministry, congregation, and leadership, and to see how music can bring us together in worship and community, honoring God. I look forward to growing, learning, and making music with all of you!

 Beth Oakley
Incoming
Director of Children
and Youth Ministry

Beth's introductory bio:

"Hi! I'm Beth and I'm excited to serve as your Coordinator of Children's and Youth Ministry. I have been blessed to grow up in the church and have always had a passion for sharing the message of God's grace. I'm proud to be bringing my experiences in administration and childcare to this position and can't wait to do great things together.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and three kids. We love spending time outdoors, playing games, and reading together. On my own, I love baking, crocheting, and learning new things.

I'm excited to see what God has in store for this new season as we nurture the kids of our community."
