Coordinator of Children and Youth Ministry
Christian Community Presbyterian Church (CCPC) in Bowie, MD, is seeking a part-time
Coordinator of Children and Youth Ministry; responsible for coordinating faith formation
activities for congregants from birth through high school graduation. The ideal candidate has a
deep appreciation for children and youth and a love for God and neighbor. The candidate’s
personal faith and background should be compatible with the Presbyterian Church (USA),
embracing diversity in all its forms. The main responsibilities of this position occur in-person on
Sundays with an option for telework during the week. Interested applicants will send a cover

Position details
• Start Date: November 1, 2026
• Part-time/hybrid (20 hours/week)
• VacaTon: 4 weeks during the summer/2 weeks aVer Christmas, plus 2 addiTonal
Sundays off
• $25,500 per year
Responsibilities
• Coordinate faith education (Sunday School) for children and youth, including preparing
volunteer teachers with curriculum materials, reviewing and selecTng appropriate
curriculum materials as needed
• Build and support our team of volunteers, including Sunday School teachers, Children’s
message team, VBS volunteers, and committee members
• Coordinate & lead a children’s activity for 2 to 6 year olds during the church service
(following children’s message)
• Coordinate and/or lead the children’s message during worship service
• Develop and coordinate children and youth programs for congregants aged 18 and
under, including mission opportunities, VBS, Christmas Pageant, and retreats
• Attend summer mission trip with mission team, supporting youth participants
• Develop and lead a regular youth group for 13 to 18 year olds, and build a team of youth
group leaders
• Attend a weekly in-person staff meeting, a monthly virtual meeting of children and
youth committee volunteers, and communicate regularly with families
• Encourage children and youth participation in worship services
• Maintain and communicate Acolyte schedule
• Coordinate occasional fundraising activities for youth trips
Requirements
• Experience working with children and/or youth
• Friendly personality to welcome and greet diverse families, visitors, and invite them into
our community
• Attendance at Sunday worship services, holiday services (Christmas Eve, Holy Week,
Easter), and church events
• Team player who can work with families, volunteers, church leadership, and church staff
toward a common goal
• Group leadership experience
• Effective organizational skills in order to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and
set goals
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must pass criminal background check
Nice to Have
• Experience (paid or unpaid) with children and youth ministries
• Proficiency in using social media and traditional communication forms to promote
children and youth programs to the greater community
• Associate or bachelor’s degree
• Coursework or certification in early childhood, primary, or secondary education
